This photo exemplifies the concept of focus. This picture is looking up toward the sky, beneath the berries. The blurring of the distant trees and leaves around the clear berries creates a wash of colors. The red from the berries is the main subject of the photo. The tress and other plant life generally tower over the wild berries, which are  located in a closely grounded bush. This photo shows that, while trees are powerful in their height and size, berries are bold in their dramatic red coloring. The berries are shorter than other plant life, but they are more powerful in their rich red coloring.

This photo exemplifies the concept of rhythm and repetition. As the chains of the fence spiral downward, the eye is drawn downward. The vertical rhythm carries a strong sense of continuation because the chains become more and more condensed at the bottom. Also, focus comes into play in this photo. The ground and bottom chains are in most focus and the top chains are more blurry. This helps in bringing the eye downward to the more clear images.

This picture exemplifies the concept of motion. The blur of the runner to first base conveys movement. The viewer gets the sense that the runner is actually running into the photo. I like the opposing movement in this picture because it creates a sense of dynamic tension. The player running to first base is moving to the right, the second base player and the far right player is running to the left toward the infield,  and the most distant outfielder is running straight forward. Their directions all intersect with one another, which increases the level of interest. Movement is also expressed from the dirt beneath the closest player’s feet. Dust from the dirt rises in the air as the player’s foot comes off the ground. Because the dirt is unsettled, movement is even more apparent in this photo.

This photo exemplifies the concept of texture. The focus is on the bark of the tree and the lighting of the sun allows the texture to be exposed. I placed the subject of the photo, the tree bark, to the left and in full focus because I wanted to attention to be immediately drawn to the clearness of its texture. This photo highlights the textured surface of the bark: grainy, grooved, and rugged.

This photo exemplifies the concept of diminishing prospective. The constancy scaling of the brick archways enhances the depth of the photo. The view down this path produces the familiar convergence in the line of archways. However, the archways individually appear to be successively smaller. The picture is mainly characterized by parallel lines, both vertical and horizontal. The direction of the grounded bricks and the tall archway draws the eye upward vertically. The horizontal shadows casted on the ground and the lines of the brick along the archways bring the eye back and forth horizontally. This photo further strengthens prospective because I focused on the nearest part of the scene, which is the closest brick archway. Therefore, it shows a large foreground-to-distance range.
